Prices might be higher in Summer 2021 due to an increase in vacations

In 2020, there was barely any traveling done so the travel fares were quite low. However, prices might be higher in the Summer of 2021 as there is an increase in vacations. For example, Airbnb has reported an average nightly stay for July/August 2021 costs around $220. But in 2020 it was just $185.

The airline industry is working hard to get out of the losses that the pandemic has caused

The Airline industry is working hard to get out of the losses that the pandemic has caused. For example, EasyJet holidays have taken a branded approach to provide consumers protection from Covid-19 issues, a guaranteed refund, and no-fee on booking changes. Emirates has also introduced free trip insurance during cross-border travel.

IATA warns airports to focus on digitalization

The IATA warns airports to focus on digitalization in order to cut time during travel journeys (check-in, security, border control, customs, and baggage claim). For example, it used to take only 1.5 hours for a person’s travel journey. But now on average a person spends 3 Hours to complete check-in and board the flight. This is alarming because the travel volume is only at about 30% of pre-COVID-19 levels.
