Why you should travel to Egypt in 2022

The world has so many beautiful places that one could visit but it can get very frustrating when it comes to choosing your next destination because with so many places to visit, where does one start? If you are planning your next trip and in need of some inspiration, then this blog might be what you need.

Of course, the ancient treasures and the history of this country are enough reasons to make Egypt land on top of your list of countries to visit in 2022. But take it from us, this country has a lot more to offer than you might expect. There are dozens of reasons why Egypt is worth visiting but as an insider, I have summed up the most important for you.

Egypt is a historically very rich country

The ancient Egyptian culture is considered as one of the oldest and most powerful civilizations in the history of the world which lasted for over 3000 years. Although the dynastic period ended thousands of years ago with the death of Cleopatra VII, the Ancient Egyptians left some incredible treasures and mysteries behind. So, if you are into history and love sightseeing then Egypt would be a great destination for you full of temples and tombs that would wow you.

The Pyramids of Giza, Cairo

Cairo is home to the only surviving ancient wonder, the Great Pyramids of Giza which of course attracts many people from all around the world. How the pyramids were built remains Egypt's biggest unsolved mystery until this day. The Pyramids were built as tombs for the pharaohs to prepare for their afterlife, in which they expected to be Gods - this is why their tombs were filled with their belongings and things they would need in the afterlife

Abu Simbel Temples, Aswan

Abu Simbel consists of two enormous rock temples that were built during the reign of the 19th Dynasty Pharaoh Ramesses II and his queen Nefertari in the 13th century BCE.  The carving of the rock-cut statues of royals along with the construction of the temples took around twenty years. The temples were rediscovered at the beginning of the 19th century and were relocated in the 1960s to avoid damage by floods.

Valley of the Kings, Luxor

The Valley of the Kings is home to 63 magnificent royal tombs from the New Kingdom period (1550–1069 BC) which are all very different from each other. At least three 11th-dynasty rulers built their tombs near the modern village of Taref, northeast of the Valley of the Kings.

The famous tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered there in 1922 and was until recently the last one to be discovered.

Karnak Temple, Luxor

This temple was built as a cult temple, dedicated to Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. It was considered the largest and most important religious complex in ancient Egypt. The Temple of Amun-Ra is considered the largest religious building ever built. This is where the god Amun lived on earth with his wife, Mut, and son, Khonsu.

Egypt has beautiful beaches

When thinking of Egypt, the beach is probably not the first thing that comes to your mind but in fact, it is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea offering some of the world’s most beautiful beaches that would just make you want to stay there forever. The crystal-clear water of the North Coast with its white sandy beaches would make you mistake Egypt for the Maldives. Thanks to Egypt’s warm weather, the swim season never ends there and is possible even in winter in the Red Sea. For all holidaymakers and beach lovers out there, now you know where your next destination should be.

Egypt is relatively cheap

Egypt is cheaper to visit when compared to other places like Europe or North America. You can find very nice hotels and luxurious resorts but it can be also done cheap. Traveling to Egypt with foreign currency is the first reason why Egypt is considered cheap. The exchange rate for 1 Euro is around 18 Egyptian Pounds which would be enough to buy some snacks or delicious street food such as Kushary or Falafel for example. When it comes to accommodation it is also very affordable but one can cut down the expenses by staying in hostels or cheap hotels. Couldn’t save a lot but still wanna travel this year? No worries because Egypt is an ideal destination for budget travelers.

Egyptian Cuisine is a must-try

Besides Egypt’s breathtaking beaches and ancient history, their cuisine is just not to miss. It doesn’t matter if you’re vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, or a meat lover because you can find all types of food there making it hard to stop eating.

Say goodbye to your summer body because it is very hard to not gain some weight in Egypt.

Here are some of Egypt’s traditional food that every visitor has to try:

Koshary, the national dish of Egyptians

Koshary is a very popular street food in Egypt, which combines Italian and Arabic culinary elements. It is made of rice, macaroni, and lentils mixed together, topped with garlic vinegar and spiced tomato sauce, and finally garnished with chickpeas and fried crisp onions.

This is a typical middle eastern dish made out of a leafy green vegetable that turns into an almost gelatinous stew when cooked. It is cooked with chicken broth and is served with rice and a choice of beef or chicken.
