However, they are going to keep borders open in order to keep the internal market functioning.

Etihad, an Abu Dhabi national airline sees travel demand improvement in the second half of 2021. However, they do not expect a full recovery before 2024. 

UK introduces a traffic light system

In the UK, the government is introducing a traffic light system to ensure safe travel. Countries will be categorized based on green, amber, and red. This is based on criteria such as infection rates, vaccine rollout, and border measures. Travelers would be able to visit green countries without quarantining on their return; amber countries would involve a period of quarantine, and red countries would be no-go zones. 

Airfare spending has risen up by 13% in comparison to last year

Airfare spending has already risen up by 13% in comparison to this time last year. Travelers aged between 72 and 93 who have most likely received vaccinations are spending 6 times what they were spending.
